Surrounded by wonderful coastline and countryside, Fowey is a
very unique Cornish town. It is steeped in history and has retained its
special charm and remains unspoilt. The busy harbour offers the tourist
plenty of entertainment. Relaxing on the quay, watching the many boats and
gigs on the river, even the occasional cruise liner berthing, are popular pastimes as is having fun on the river itself. Ferry, fishing and river
trips, canoe, sailing dinghy and motorboat hire are all available.
The town boasts many restaurants and pubs each with their own character. The shops are varied offering basic provisions for a self catering holiday as well as those selling specialised gifts, clothes and paintings. There are two small beaches both offering safe bathing and beautiful scenery. Both are a very short walk from the apartment. Readymoney Cove is very pretty and the larger of the two. Whitehouse is nearer the town and has a small sea water swimming pool set amongst the rocks. Fowey and the surrounding area have plenty to offer the tourist. From Fowey ferries are available to Bodinnick, Polruan and Mevagissey. Fishing and river trips are extremely popular. For those who are more energetic there is a leisure centre with outside pool.
